My grandpas (yes both of them) are my heros…
Nick Diez (Papa, in the picture) grew up with a father who beat him until he left and little else other than his brother and mom in Mexico. He became an amazing fighter and enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 during World War 2. He got an education when he got out of the service and ended up becoming one of the higher ups at Del Monte. More inspirational than his story is his attitude toward his family and life. He is the most loving and kind man I have ever known and even though he is now pretty senile he is incredibly happy.
Richard Conn (Grandpa) also enlisted during World War 2, but he saw a lot more action than Papa did. He was on the USS Princeton when it went down in 1944. He still has nightmares about it and rarely talks about it. When he got out of the Navy he opened and ran his own service station. He takes care of my grandma and his little ranch in Bishop, CA even though he has recently had open heart surgery and a full knee replacement. Grandpa will simply never stop working to support the ones he loves.
I am proud to be named after both of these men: Nicholas Richard Conn. They are my inspiration and the reason I have everything I do. Who/What inspires you?

Nichoas, you inspired me today, a tear or two also. Love you lots
Hugs and Kisses Dama
My parents inspire me. They will always be my heroes. They came to the U.S. when they were both 15 and 17 years of age. I thank them making me the person that I am today and I thank them for never letting me give up because they never took no for an answer.
Thanks for the post. It brought a huge smile to face. Maybe a tear or two.
Aw, get out of town, so sweet!!!
my dad, for reasons i decline to state openly in writing. the only completely reliable person i have ever known.
