Nick Pappas: Tied for 9th In SoCal Regional

Today’s Workout:

High Bar Back Squat
3-3-3-3-3

Nick Pappas is a stud and the first CFG athlete to make it to the Regional level. Watching him come in on Friday in something like 48th place and move up into 9th over the weekend was epic to say the least. He started off a little jittery and missed some HSPU reps in the first workout, but was unshaken in his resolve. In the thruster ladder he PRed at 225 for 15th moving him into 26th after the first day. On Saturday Nick found his stroke. He pulled a 5:08 on the Deadlift/Box Jump WOD for a PR of about a minute and a half for his best performance of the weekend. We expected Workout 4 to be his weakest workout and he crushed it earning 13th for the workout and climbing in the ranks. Then on Saturday evening he threw down hard on the 100s workout taking 6th in the workout and securing a spot in the top 14 (10th to be exact) to move on to Sunday. Amanda and Workout 6 went well and he ended up earning a 9th place tie overall to close out the weekend. Over the next few days I will be sharing more discussion/opinion about this years CrossFit Games SoCal Regional, but these are the dry details.

Coach Pappas will be leaving us to help a friend start an affiliate in his hometown of Sonoma. While I am sad to see him go, I could not be more stoked for his future.

Nick, I wish you the best of luck with CFVOM and your training. I have no doubt that you will someday make it to the Games if you continue to utilize your focus, innate athletic ability, and heart the way you did this weekend. You will be missed around the CFG, but know that you always have a home here to return to and a little pink rhinestone-encrusted princess key to let you in (until we move to a bigger spot). I love you brother.
