Getting Through The Bar

Jerk Balance 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

15 Medicine Ball Cleans 20/14
15 Wallball Shots 20/14

One of the more difficult aspects of the jerk for many athletes is getting through the bar to receive the load in an optimal position. This can be due a combination of several factors including tight shoulders, being a little slow, or fear. Ideally you want to match the vertical plane of the bar to the back of your skull directly over your spine. The jerk balance helps athletes focus on getting through the bar by simplifying the footwork of the jerk and starting in a staggered stance.

  1. This is always an interesting lift. Awesome that you can link to demo videos in your posts!

I always find that receiving the load in an optimal position is the hardest part of my jerk.
