It has happened to every one of us who has fallen for crossfit and spent our days talking about hitting Helen, and making Fran sounds like the village bicycle, “everyone’s had a ride”, we are asked the simple question of: What is crossfit? While it may be very true that one must try to understand it, this used to piss me off when I couldn’t figure out a way to tell someone correctly enough to make him or her understand. Well this past weekend I figured out a way to tell a person what crossfit is: Go to the main site with them and sign them up for a Level 1 Certificate Course. It will make their day(s), believe me!
The level 1 course in Monrovia this past weekend was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. We all know the actual proof of what crossfit does for each one of us; what effect it has in the gym and our lives. But there is a lot of scientific information which, without most of us knowing or thinking about it, backs up that very proof! And the best part about the many certification courses is that they are scaled just like the workouts: If you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced athlete you are going at relative intensity getting the most possible result out of it. Humbling, emotional, and enlightening… whatever was being taught delivered a potent punch that hit home for me. All of you who are part of this community I applaud! From the elite trainers of crossfit head quarters to the person who came back after their first workout everyone has the drive to make themselves better. I recommend intellectually and physically moving forward in that process by attending a certification course.
Finally, this experience has made me confident in making the next step to teach crossfit. I am content in the knowledge that I still and always will be a student of crossfit and I know it will help me stay open minded in teaching, now and in the future.
Thank you Crossfit!
Thank you Goodland!
