Deadlift Setup

Today's Workout

Deadlift

3-2-2-1-1-1-1-1

Then

4 Rounds For Time

10 Knees to Elbows
20 Double Unders

Christos with an excellent starting position.

Everyone's deadlift setup is going to look slightly different. This is because we all have different ratios of leg to torso to arm length. The main points that will remain true for everyone to put your body into proper lifting position are to start with the load over the middle of your foot, your scapulae over the load, your arms hanging straight down like straps, and your back in a neutral position. When you stand up with the load keep the load in tight to your body and your weight toward your heels, bring your hips forward, and keep your chest up and shoulders back to prevent rounding in your spine. Proper deadlift setup is crucial to produce both an efficient and safe lift.

Here is a video showing legendary strength coach Mark Rippetoe's approach to setting up the deadlift.

  1. (1) Picking up heavy shit off the floor is awesome.
    (2) Rip is also awesome.
    That is all.
