I for one am leaner and meaner than ever. I weigh about 190 now which is my lightest in years, but i continue to pr on lifts and WODs and feel great doing it. variety can be a challenge, but with a little preparation and creativity paleo is actually quite enjoyable. I have been cheating a bit here and there mostly for the sake of convenience, but i’d say that I’m about 80% paleo now.
Today’s WOD 8:59 with 85% of L-PU’s subbed with jumping L-PU’s. My L is getting better though.
I do about a 80-85% Paleo with cheats every so often. The 10-15% non-paleo is mostly milk and whey protein. I don’t really notice the effects until I go off of it and my body goes into revolt. As far as effects on performance, I feel that I recover faster when I keep my calories up. The sweetcheeks blog has saved my life as of late. Their paleo fish tacos are bomb.
Paleo + crossfit has definitely put me onto the fittest track I’ve been on in my life…they seem to compliment each other well.
I’m about the same as you, Nick – 80% paleo or so…the 20% lag is generally from one of the following:
-Rice as part of a sushi roll
-Salt
-Cheese on a burger (though that’s the only dairy I eat any longer)
-Maybe a couple cookies if it’s…”relaxation” time on Sunday night.
And Ryan…holy CRAP those fish tacos look incredible! That’s been my one lament about Paleo, the ability to eat tacos on the fly. I’m gonna try that recipe this weekend, thanks for the tip!
