A Mental Vacation

Today's Workout

As Many Rounds As Possible In 15 minutes

10 Deadlifts 225lb/150lb
10 Burpee Box Jumps 36"/24"

Grant doing some ring pull-ups to finish off a solid workout
You only get one brain to run all of the tasks that you have to do in a day. Sometimes this can be exhausting if you have a lot to get done, especially if you are the 23 year old owner of a new restaurant like Grant here (check out Dogtown). It can be hard to be motivated to go and work out when you are mentally exhausted, but it can also do wonders to help relieve some of your stress. Performing a high intensity workout takes you out of your normal thought patterns and puts you into a world where only that next rep matters. There is no more time to think about all the work that you still haven't done or worry about anything other than finishing your workout. It's like the volume on all of the stressors in your life gets turned down for a bit and nothing else matters. This kind of mental vacation can be exactly what you need to relieve some stress and feel better in both body and mind.

  2. Arthur,
Dogtown is actually closed till this Sunday because its spring break and IV is a ghost town, but if you are looking for a quality cheat day meal and cheap pitchers of good beer (especially on Sundays $6) its the place to go.

It doesn't have to be fun... to be fun.
