The Crew after last Saturday's Beach WOD

After the workout on Saturday when Ted came back to work on some Olympic Lifting technique in the Oly Class at noon he made a great point about the team workout that is definitely worth sharing. The cool thing about a team workout like the one we did Saturday is that it turns a workout with a chipper structure (chip away at one rep at a time like a logger) into a max effort interval workout. Because you get to rest when your teammate is working, you can bring more intensity to the intervals in which you are working. Trading work intervals in this way is great for holding you accountable to your teammate outside yourself and keeping you moving when you are tired. Even though we may not always do team workouts, we are all part of a team.

Being a part of a growing CrossFit Community such as ours is a huge advantage to your fitness. Having a team of individuals committed to getting a little better every day with you is an awesome support network. We may compete a lot in workouts, but the score of the workout is not nearly as important as is the effort you put in; having a community is paramount in pulling that effort from you. It doesn't matter if you are first or last as long as you are trying to do better than the day before you will see tangible results of your fitness improving. Humans are social creatures and we tend to mirror the habits of those close to us. If you eat healthy and work out regularly there is a good chance that your friends, family, and acquaintances will see what you are doing and follow suit. So this spring lets all start a new trend: increased fitness and enjoyment of life with Team Goodland.
