Footwear?

With all of the advances in running shoe technology, one would expect a decline in running-related injuries. This is not the trend, unfortunately. This shoe may look pretty cool and hi-tech, and it may have a huge air cushion to pad those heel strikes I know many of you run with, but ultimately this shoe is worthless. The key to avoiding injury while running is to stay on the balls of the feet, pull with the hamstrings, and limit foot/ground contact time. Most importantly, we do not want to run with those huge heel strikes that jolt our entire frame. If you were to run barefoot I guarantee your form would be better than in these worthless gimmicks known more commonly as running shoes. Train yourself to run properly, not to rely upon an artificial pad to allow you to run with poor form, your knees and lower back will thank you, and your 5k will be faster and more efficient.
So what, you might ask, should you run in? I'd recommend some good old fashioned Chucky T's or some skate shoes.
